Camping Ministry:  Pilgrim Center and Moon Beach Camp have long been places which hold a fondness in the memories of nearly two thousand summer campers each year.  Youth camps for children as young as 4 through Senior High ages provide an opportunity for independence, interdependence, discussion, adventure and growth. Family Camps offer families of all definitions -- traditional, single parent, extended, blended and more -- opportunities to enjoy each other without the demands and schedules of home and work.  No phones ring, pagers and cell phones do not interrupt impromptu discussions under the shade of the Northwood's pine forest.

Nursery:  Children who are not in Sunday school or under 3 may go into the Nursery during the worship service. Our Nursery is staffed with high school youth who have volunteered to care for the young children of our church.

Son Shine Choir:  Son Shine Choir is a voluntary children’s choir for students in 2nd through 6th grade. Our very own jazz musician Janice “The Juice” teaches (and writes some) of the songs they sing.
Stepping Stones of Faith:  Stepping Stones of Faith is a program through which young people gradually accept the cost and joy of discipleship. Specifically, at certain times in their Sunday school lives, young persons are asked to accept more Christian responsibility in the way they live with others and in the way they relate with God’s creation. Confirmation, then, becomes the accepting of the full call to discipleship in joining the Church.

Baptism: The new child of God is celebrated. The child receives the first symbol of faith a Baby Bible.

Preschool
: Upon entrance into Sunday school the preschooler receives a glow-in-dark prayer night light. The preschooler is accepting that Jesus will continue walking with them as they learn about Christ.

2nd Grade:
Students learn about the sacrifice Jesus made by loving all people and things. They vow to Love as Jesus loved and receive a personalized wooden heart in honor of this oath.

4th grade: In Spring, students learn the importance of taking care of God's garden and being stewards of the Earth. Each child receives a sapling to plant somewhere in honor of understanding the needs of God's planet.

7th grade: "Take up Your Cross and Follow Me" is the theme of this stepping stone. Students make a cross of their own styling and promise to journey with Jesus even when times are difficult.
8th grade: First Communion and Confirmation-By 12 years of age a child can understand the true meaning of sin and the sacrifice that Jesus made for them by dying on a cross. Students also become confirmed members of the Christian faith and prepare bible passages and spiritual statement that summarizes where they are on their faith journey.

12th grade: Youth graduating from High School receive a study bible to take with them as they begin their adult lives.

Sunday School:  Sunday Schoolmeets from mid September through mid-May. Children ages 3yrs of age thru 6th grade attend part of the worship service and then leave before the sermon where our loving Christian Education staff shares and teaches the love of Christ to the children.
The children sponsor a child from Brazil through Child Fund International. The children bring an offering envelope every week to Sunday school. The money they collect goes to CFI and ensures that our child is getting food, medical care, and schooling.
