Building Campaign
QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
IS OUR "PLANTING THE SEEDS OF FAITH"
CAMPAIGN IN ADDITION TO OUR REGULAR SUNDAY OFFERING?
Yes. Gifts now received from regular Sunday offerings are barely
sufficient to cover operating expenses. The gifts we offer to our
Campaign will be used specifically for building renovations which
are outlined in the brochure. Our “PLANTING THE SEEDS OF
FAITH” Campaign will be successful if we can
translate HOPES into ACTION and if our stewardship is rooted in our
faith. Remember, this is above and beyond what we currently give to
the church.
HOW ARE GIFTS MADE TO THE CAMPAIGN?
Each member will be personally approached by a volunteer member of
our church who will share information about the mission of our
church, present the challenge of the “PLANTING THE SEEDS OF
FAITH” Campaign, and ask each member to
consider a “suggested asking figure” over a five-year pledge period
for our Campaign. They are, like you, busy men and women who are
making an investment of money and time so that everyone will have an
opportunity to participate. Each member will be asked to sign a
pledge card indicating an amount and the desired terms for payment.
Payments for the Campaign may be made annually, semi-annually,
quarterly or any other way preferred. Your pledge is a statement of
good faith that you intend to fulfill those terms, but it is
understood that changing circumstances may require adjustment. It
is very important for us to remember that each generation must
provide for the next generation in the same Spirit as past
generations have provided for us.
WHEN WILL THE VOLUNTEERS BEGIN ASKING
FOR GIFTS?
Each member will be asked to consider their gifts beginning April
14, 2005. It is our goal to have all visitations and pledges
completed by May 26, 2005.
WHY ARE PLEDGES SOUGHT RATHER THAN
ONE-TIME GIFTS FOR THE CAPITAL PORTION OF OUR CAMPAIGN?
Although one-time gifts are appreciated, they alone will not be
sufficient to attain our $600,000 minimum goal or our $800,000
challenge goal for our Campaign. Pledges are encouraged over a
period of five years, enabling each member of our church to make a
maximum contribution with a minimum of financial
strain. The Campaign depends on generous stewardship based on a
commitment to Christ.
WHAT SHOULD BE MY RESPONSE TO GOD’S
LOVE AND BLESSINGS?
Each member will be challenged to consider a “suggested asking
figure” for the Campaign and should then base their gift according
to their response to God’s love and blessings.
We are all asked to examine our
hearts, our situation, and our commitment to Christ's church as we
each make our individual decision of support for the “PLANTING
THE SEEDS OF FAITH” Campaign. When you are contacted, you will
be asked to plan your gift investment at the highest possible
level. Keep in mind that our Campaign is a "once in a long-time"
opportunity for most of us, we should also take into account our
personal capital accumulation as well as our current and potential
income in determining our gift investment.
WHY SHOULD I GIVE?
Because you
want to say YES to the future of God's ministry in this place. Because
we are members together of the Body of Christ. Because it is necessary
if the work and life of our church are to deepen and expand. Only with
every member's participation can we meet the challenges that face us as
a community of God's love. Because only by each member's informed
stewardship and sacrificial giving will our dreams for this program be
realized.

LIFE COSTS
A certain person once said
to a friend, “Our church costs too much. They are always asking for
money.”
“Some time ago a little boy was born in our
home,” replied her friend. “He cost me a lot of money from the very
beginning; he had a big appetite, he needed clothes, medicine, toys, and
even a puppy. Then he went away to college, began dating, and that cost
a small fortune! But in his senior year at college he died, and since
the funeral he has not cost me a penny. Now which situation do you
think I would rather have?”
After a significant pause she continued, “As
long as this church lives it will cost. When it dies for want of
support, it will not cost us anything. A living church
has the most vital message for all the world today, therefore I am going
to give and pray with everything I have to keep our church alive.”
Working together with our resources we will be
“Planting the Seeds of Faith for today and tomorrow”.
